Due to protective coatings on the engine, a small amount of smoke may be present during the initial use of the product and should be considered normal.
First, be sure the fuel valve is in the “on” position. To start a cold engine, move the choke control lever to the choke position. Next, hold the operator presence control bar against the handle. To start the engine, pull the starter handle quickly. Do not allow the starter rope to snap back. To stop the engine, release the operator presence control bar. Wait until the blade and all moving parts have stopped and turn the fuel valve to the “off” position if you do not intend to restart the engine soon. For best results, the mower blade must be kept sharp. Always replace a dull, bent or damaged blade. To remove the blade, disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug and place the wire where it cannot come in contact with the plug. Turn the lawn mower on its side. Make sure the air filter and carburetor are up. Next, use a wood block between the blade and mower housing to prevent the blade from turning when removing the blade bolt. There are blade holder accessories available to assist you with this task.
You should always protect your hands with gloves and wrap the blade with heavy cloth. Now, remove the blade bolt by turning them counter-clockwise. Remove the blade. To replace the blade, be sure the trailing edge of the blade, opposite the sharp edge is up toward the engine. Also, the star patterns on the blade and the mandrel must align before inserting the bolt. Be sure to use a block of wood between the blade and the lawn mower housing to prevent it from turning. Tighten the blade bolt clockwise. The recommended tightening torque is 36-44 foot pounds. Blade bolts are specially heat treated, if the bolt needs replacing, replace only with an approved bolt. If the engine turns over very slowly or not at all, make sure the battery is fully charged and the connections are clean and tight. If the key to your tractor was left in the “on” position after mowing, the battery will slowly discharge. After mowing remember to always turn your mower to the “off” position.
One of the reasons your tractor might not start is: the maybe flooded. To solve a flooded engine, just wait several minutes. Bring the throttle to the full run position without engaging the choke and try to start the tractor again. If the engine won’t start, check the air filter. Grass and dirt builds up in the filter and clogs the air flow causing the engine to run poorly. Clean the filter with a small, soft brush but replace it as soon as possible. A general rule is: if you’re not able to see light through the filter, replace it. Change or service the air filter every 25 hours of use or more often if you’re operating in very dirty or dusty conditions. Good quality fuel is also essential to starting your tractor. Make sure the fuel you use is good, clean and not older than 30 days with an octane rating of at least 87. When your fuel ages and becomes stale, your tractor may not start. Adding a fuel stabilizer to the fuel is highly recommended. When was the last time you replaced the fuel filter? Keep in mind that it should be replaced every mowing season and finally, are you sitting on the seat while trying to start the tractor? For your safety, the tractor has a safety sensor control which won’t allow ignition unless you’re sitting on the seat. If your tractor is having a problem idling, it may be due to stale fuel. Make sure the fuel is good, clean and not older than 30 days. The fuel should also have a minimum octane rating of 87. The engine needs to be warm for it to idle properly. Engage the choke while starting the engine, next, slowly disengage the choke until the engine maintains a smooth, steady idle. In cold weather, it may be necessary to engage the choke for a little longer or until the engine is sufficiently warmed up. Keep in mind, the entire engine warm-up period may take up to a few minutes depending on the outside temperature. Your tractor may not idle properly if the spark plug is fouled or dirty. To check the spark plug, remove the hood by first disconnecting the light connection and then gently lifting the hood off its hinge. Remove the spark plug making sure to clean off the surrounding area first. Inspect the plug, in order to ensure that it is indeed the recommended plug for your tractor. Clean off any build up with a small brush and replace any fouled or worn spark plugs. If your tractor’s fuel filter is dirty, your engine may not accelerate. Visually inspect the filter for buildup of dirt or debris and replace if necessary. Plan to change your fuel filter at least once every mowing season. The tractor may not accelerate if your tractor’s engine isn’t warm enough. During cold weather or if your engine is cold, you may need to idle the engine for several minutes before it’s ready to be fully throttled. If your tractor won’t move or you wish to physically push the tractor, make sure the transmission free willing control is properly engaged. Push it in to operate the tractor or pull it out if you wish to physically push the tractor. Ottawa Mowers Repair Facility http://www.ottawamowers.com/ 613-724-4332 This is my first time buying a lawnmower. What kind of cutting system should I choose? If you’re not certain about which cutting system best suits your lawn and your mowing habits, you should choose a Husqvarna lawn mower that handles sever cutting systems: rear ejection, collection and mulching. What different types of lawnmowers does Husqvarna offer? Husqvarna’s lineup contains several lawnmower models for all types of lawns, from self-propelled mowers for large gardens to push mowers for small gardens in high-density areas. Husqvarna's extensive range is sure to include on that suits you perfectly. Should I buy a lawnmower with a collection system? Lawn Mowers with collection systems give clean results and save time since you don’t need to rake clippings after you’ve finished cutting. You can also use collection for leaves when the autumn comes. Collection is also a good idea if you want to avoid allergic reactions to grass, and decrease the spreading of weed seeds. How easy are these mowers to operate? Self-propelled models with rear-wheel drive are better for sloping terrain because the weight of the machine rests on its rear wheels, providing greater traction. Front-wheel-drive mowers, however, offer more maneuverability, allowing the operator to turn the machine simply by pushing its hand down, lifting the front wheels off the ground and swiveling it in a new direction. How do I know which cutting width I should use? It depends on the size of your lawn. The larger the lawn, the bigger the cutting deck. The mow ¾ of an acre of lawn, you have to walk almost two miles, depending on the cutting width. In general, the larger and more open the grass areas, the more important it is that the machine has a generous cutting width. If the area has lots of obstructions like trees and bushes, it’s more important that the cutting width is small enough for the tractor to move through the tightest passages. Within the Husqvarna garden tractor range we offer tractors with cutting widths from 42 to 54 inches
A good riding tractor mower enables you to achieve first-class results using the cutting method best suited to your lawn. Choose a model with integrated collector when you want to collect clippings and achieve tidy results. For quick and efficient cutting, choose a side-ejecting tractor. Switch to the BioClip® (mulching) mode when your lawn needs fertilization. By adding accessories from our wide range, you get a versatile garden tool for year-round use. What should I think about when choosing a lawn & garden tractor? For a large lawn you need a tractor mower with more capacity, i.e. a wider cutting deck. If the area has lots of obstacles and include narrow passages, it’s important that the cutting width is small enough to move through the tightest spaces. Riding tractors mowing decks range from 42 to 54 inches. If you have a lawn with lots of obstacle you can consider zero turn mowers or Articulating front mower Rider mowers When I am cutting high and coarse grass, which is the most efficient method? The most efficient cutting method for high & coarse grass is side discharge/ ejection There are lots of manufacturers and retailers of riding mowers. Where is the best option when deciding where to purchase a riding mower? There are quite a variety of riding lawn tractors. Brands such as Husqvarna garden tractors are high-quality machines from world’s leading manufacturer. Most models are sold only at selected, servicing, authorized dealers, who can advise you on which tractor you should chose and how to maintain it for maximum efficiency and pleasure for many years to come. If you want to fertilize your lawn while mowing you may want to purchase the optional mulching kit, this requires somewhat more frequent mowing. For seldom cut lawns, a tractor with side ejection is the most efficient solution. What is the benefit of a hydrostatic transmission? A tractor with hydrostatic transmission is much easier to drive than one with manual transmission. With manual, you have to stop the tractor every time you want to change gears. For maximum user comfort, choose a tractor with pedal-operated hydrostatic transmission. Can I use the machine for other things than mowing the lawn? Yes. Husqvarna offers number of practical attachments that make our tractors useful in the garden throughout the year. For instance a trailer, spreader, dethatcher, aerator and snow thrower.
